You know Hannah's started going to "school" when...

... She starts parading in front of the mirror in her "gym" kit in anticipation of the actual session
This was taken during the weekend, and till now the kit remains ridiculously loose, all in the name of economics.

... She comes home with a bite mark on her forearm

It was a shame Hannah wouldn't keep still for a clearer picture, but trust me on this one - if you were a dentist, you could probably jot down a complete set of dental records for the offender.

How do you react to something like this?

While the initial reaction was to be angry at the little child, Hannah was so unaffected by the incident that it seemed funny. Since Hannah had forgiven her friend, it seemed right to do the same.

... She talks about birthday parties, drinking Ribena and eating cakes

So much for parent-instilled discipline of no refined foods and only "natural" flavoured food (well, as far as possible). Hannah now enjoys the world of chocolate, sweets and all manner of hyperactive-inducing snacks, courtesy of her friends, their parents and her teachers.

... She gets a string of viral infections, one after another

and may I add, passes it on to her parents and grandparents. While we can only remember one or two episodes of vague illnesses in her first two years, we have already lost count of the number of flu bugs Hannah has caught from school. As they say, a necessary rite of passage.

... Her parents are summoned to school for a "Parent-Teacher Session"

Thankfully, all her teacher said was "She's a keen learner, but stubborn at times". Well, in many more words, but that was the gist of it. Nothing we didn't already know though.

Guys - thanks for faithfully keeping the blog as current as possible all the time. There is nothing more privileged than having the opportunity to see Hannah grow up over the years. In the process, having the opportunity to influence her growth and development as well. I just want you guys to know that we will always be here for the both of you and of course, Hannah as well. Never hesitate to call on us. Love, Cy Kuan & Lai San

Thanks for the supportive message - and nice to start getting some comments again! I think the art of blogging is dying. Most of our blog links are to sites untouched for a year or two. Most people have moved on to other forms of social networking but I guess I'm getting too old and slow to keep jumping to Facebook then Twitter then whatever next. So you can still expect more old-fashioned postings from time to time.

wow, am totally shocked that hannah is at school already. She looks lovely, butter wouldn't melt as they say. Here I am desperately horrified that ruby started school in January and trying to persuade brian and the school to let me take her out for another year at least or have her in part time. And she is 4 3/4years .

Do enjoy reading your Blog but have completely given up on most forms of electronic communication myself as simply cant find the time so well done. (will respond to email and sometimes msn).

With regards to the Bite. But as a mother of a child who has bitten and been bitten several times its not black and white, anyway dont get me started on that.

love hearing what you are up to.

Ah, well said. The bite issue is truly not black or white.

Even with Hannah's limited vocaulary, we can figure out that she's been quite a terror with her classmates.

Thank God for relative honesty at this age, Hannah has admitted to taking things that don't belong to her, drawing on someone else's art work and possibly hitting other children.

What can I say...
