Any suggestions?

Ok, so Daddy has one and a half weeks of leave, and he's at home with his 2 year old daughter in KL. What should they do together?

I had to scratch my head somewhat. We had done the Zoo and the Bird Park not so long ago. What other wholesome activities are there for little ones and their parents in KL? Well, here is what we did, but do please add comments with YOUR experiences and sugggestions. I've got 3 weeks of leave in December to look forward to...

This is at the Butterfly Park, one of the many parks within the Lake Gardens. I must admit, there is more to explore here with Hannah, even though we have done the Bird Park. There is also the Deer Park, the Hybiscus Garden and the Orchid Garden.

Nick and his son Adam joined us on this little excursion. Unfortunately, due to their vertically challenged perspective I think they spent more time looking at their feet than the lovely butterflies overhead. Oh well. We can always make another trip...

Oh, and also at the Lake Gardens there is a stupendous array of children's playground facilities. Being a hot afternoon during Ramadan, the whole park was deserted and Hannah could really run amok!

On another day, I drove us into town at 10.30am - a pleasant experience since traffic was minimal - and we headed for KLCC.  I was aiming to get into the KLCC Aquaria for its opening at 11am, but I hadn't reckoned on a queue to buy tickets.  Still, it was relatively painless.  And soon Hannah and I were enjoying the wonders of undersea life.  I must say, this is worth visiting.  The displays are of a quality not often found in tourist attractions in Malaysia.

The highlight of KLCC Aquaria is a long underwater tunnel with stingrays, sharks and giant sea turtles gliding over you.  And this culminates in a 15 minute feeding show, not very well captured in my picture directly above.

Well, we couldn't go out EVERY day, so some home entertainment (apart from TV) was in order.  After buying this magic painting book for Hannah we found she has quite a thirst for artistic expression.  I see more painting to come in future holidays...

So what have you done - and what should we do in December???

hi Chris, splendid activities! May I suggest the following for December :

1) Visit the SPCA in Ampang...
2) There's a place in Bukit Cerakah, Shah Alam that has a artificial ice and snow play area... worth checking out..

Ah, great ideas!

I know nothing about the SPCA in Malaysia, so that is intriguing.

Shah Alam a bit far, lah! But maybe one day...

I was thinking about Petrosains, but maybe in another year at least to make it more worthwhile for Hannah?

Waterparks. Hmm. We have only just re-persuaded Hannah that swimming pools are fun. At least now we can take her to the pool in the apartment. One step at a time...

Cooking. YES! She loves to 'help' in the kitchen. I should look into simple things she can get more involved in making (and not think about the messy aftermath).

Thanks!

I go for free things - the playgrounds in the youth park & walk around the botanical gardens & go to the beach - multiple times. Emily has suggested meeting up so maybe you could meet up with other willing parents?

Most of the time, my kids don't really care where they go as long as they go out! And I don't care as long as they have the space to burn off their energy!!
